COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS
It is our every intention to hold the Louisville Polar Plunge on February 26 to support Special Olympics athletes in the Louisville Metropolitan Area & state. The health, safety, and security of participants, SOKY athletes, staff, and volunteers is our priority. Please keep the following in mind as we work to finalize details of the event:

  • All in attendance must adhere to state & local guidelines made effective the day of the event.
  • If you are not feeling 100%, please stay home. Cold & Flu symptoms included.
  • Social distancing is encouraged.
  • Individual changing tents will be provided and sanitized between uses.
  • There are no capacity restrictions at this time.
  • Spectators are welcome!
  • If you are not comfortable attending in person, please take advantage & enjoy our Personal Plunge option.
  • Opening Ceremonies and Costume Contest plans are back! See schedule.


PLUNGE OPERATIONS
Thursday, February 24: Early Check-In @ the SOKY Office
Early Check-In is by appointment for Team Captains and Individuals not registered with a team ONLY.

  • Please make efforts to schedule an appointment for EARLY Check-In. This will reduce the number of volunteers and activities required onsite Saturday.


Saturday, February 26: Polar Plunge @ Main Event
Check in will be done for Team Captains (& individuals not registered with a team) ONLY.

  • Participants should work to collect donations through LouisvillePlunge.com to reduce in person transactions.
  • To limit time spent at check-in, there will be NO BORROWING OR LENDING OF DONATIONS.
    • Any donations that need to be lent or borrowed MUST be handled in advance.
  • Schedules will be distributed via email and posted on social media.
  • Upon arrival at the assigned time, Team Captains (& individuals without a team) will report to Check-In. All other participants MUST wait in the staging area.
    • Staging for the Polar Plunge will include a minimum of 6ft distance between participants/households.


Please be patient & understanding as we work through these challenging times to create a fun & safe event. Additional details will be worked out over the coming weeks. This document will be updated accordingly.
