Paducah Truck Pull FAQ
What is a Truck Pull?
The Pull is an event where teams of 15 go up against a loaded UPS 18-wheeler to see who can pull it 12 feet in the least amount of time. While it is a competition, and bragging rights are won, the day is filled with fun, community and support for Special Olympics McCracken Co. athletes.
When and where is the Pull?
The Truck Pull will be held on September 21, at Heartland Church starting at 2pm. The competition schedule will be posted by Wednesday, September 18.
Who does the Pull benefit?
All donations raised will benefit McCracken County Special Olympics and Special Olympics Kentucky. Funds raised will be used to provide year-round sports training and competition in 15 different sports, as well as comprehensive health screening programs for more than 11,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities statewide.
How do I sign up?
Visit paducahtruckpull.com and select register now and follow instructions on how to get your team or yourself registered. We are always available to help, just give Mallory a call at 502-326-5002.
Who can participate?
Anyone over the age of eight that is in good physical health. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian allowing them to participate.
How many people can be on a team?
A team consists of 15 people. More than 15 individuals can be on a team, however, only 15 can participate in the Pull.
Can you participate with fewer than 15 people?
Yes, just not any more. We will also have athletes in attendance that can help you pull if you need more people!
How much does it cost to participate?
Entry fee is $750 per team. Most team members fundraise individually to help their team reach that minimum, however some teams are corporate sponsored or receive company support to cover the fee. We have lots of tools to help you raise funds and even sample e-mails to make it easier and less time consuming for you! Youth teams (8-17 years old) raise $375 dollars and pull a package car instead of the 18-wheel truck.
What do I wear?
Most importantly – closed toes shoes are mandatory, you will not be allowed to pull in out toed-shoes or flip flops. You will be provided an official pull t-shirt at registration but we recommend having a team “costume” or t-shirt. We will be giving out awards for best team spirit and costume! Each team member must bring their own gloves - work or garden gloves - latex is not acceptable.
Can I bring guests with me to the Pull?
YES! As many as you like! Before or after your team pulls enjoy the Family Fun Zone.
Are pets allowed?
We cannot allow any pets there, except for service animals, for safety purposes.
What if my friends and family give me cash or checks instead of donating online?
No problem. You can mail them to our office (1230 Hurstbourn Lane., Suite 100; Louisville, KY 40222, Attn: Paducah Truck Pull) at least one week prior to the event or you can bring them with you to the event and turn it in when registering. We will add it to your online fundraising totals. Please make checks payable to Special Olympics Kentucky, and be sure to note on the check who the donation is going to so we can credit you/your team!
