Big Brown Truck Pull FAQ

COVID-19 and the Truck Pull: As we navigate through COVID-19, we are hopeful that the situation will improve over the coming months and we’ll be able to hold the Truck Pull as normal. We are committed to working with local health officials and law enforcement to put safety measures in place, and we will only hold the event if we are told it can be done safely. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of all participants. Thank you for supporting SOKY - we hope to see you in August!

What is a Truck Pull?

The Pull is an event where teams of 15 go up against an UPS 18-wheeler cargo truck to see who can pull it 12 feet in the least amount of time.  While it is a competition, and bragging rights are won, the day is filled with fun, community and support for Special Olympics athletes.

When and where is the Pull?

The Pull will be held on August 29, 2020, Texas Roadhouse Beaumont Centre 3030 Lakecrest Cir, Lexington, KY 40513

Who does the Pull benefit?

All donations raised will benefit Special Olympics Kentucky. Funds raised will be used to provide year-round sports training and competition in 15 different sports, as well as comprehensive health screening programs for nearly 11,300 individuals with intellectual disabilities statewide.

How do I sign up?

Visit LexingtonTruckPull.com and select register now and follow instructions on how to get your team or yourself registered. We are always available to help, just give us a call; 502-695-8222.

Who can participate?

Anyone over the age of eight that is in good physical health. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian allowing them to participate.

How many people can be on a team?

A team consists of 15 people. More than 15 individuals can be on a team, however, only 15 can participate in the Pull. Team members beyond the 15 pulling the truck can be “virtual” Pullers that help your team raise money for Special Olympics.

Can you participate with fewer than 15 people?

Yes, just not any more. We will also have athletes in attendance that can help you pull if you need more people!

How much does it cost to participate?

Entry fee is $1,000 per team. Most team members fundraise individually to help their team reach that minimum, however some teams are corporate sponsored or receive company support to cover the fee. We have lots of tools to help you raise funds and even sample e-mails to make it easier and less time consuming for you!

What do I wear?

Most importantly--closed toes shoes are mandatory, you will not be allowed to pull in flip flops. You will be provided an official pull t-shirt at registration but we recommend having a team “costume” or t-shirt. We will be giving out awards for best team spirit and costume! New this year we have a best team mask! Also, this year you will be required to bring your own gloves.

Can I bring guest with me to the Pull?

This year things will be a little different...we will have more details closer to the Pull date. Stay tuned!

Are pets allowed?

We cannot allow any pets there, except for service animals, for safety purposes.
