Mid-South Polar Plunge

Mid-South Conference Polar Plunge

The Mid-South Conference Polar Plunge is a brand-new event EXCLUSIVELY for Mid-South Conference student athletes. It’s a great way for teams from across the Mid-South Conference to get involved in supporting Special Olympics programs in their state.

Jump in your athletics facility’s cold tub, in a pond on campus, or find another unique way. It’s up to you and your team!

Need inspiration, check out this "How To" video!

Participating is easy:

  1. Sign-up your team between November 16th and March 16th, joining teams at member schools from across the conference. Title your team <school name, sport name>, for instance: UPike Bowling, or Bethel Swimming.
  2. Encourage your teammates to sign-up to join your Plunge team.
  3. Start raising money to support the programs of Special Olympics!
  4. Every student athlete that raises $75 or more will get to Plunge on their campus and will receive a Plunge t-shirt.
    1. If a team raises $500 or more, their coach or team captain must take the Plunge.
    2. If a member school’s athletic department raises over $2,500 collectively, the school’s athletic director takes the Plunge.
    3. If a member school’s athletic department raises over $5,000 collectively, the athletic director AND university president take the Plunge.
    4. Set a Plunge date for your team and/or your athletic department and join in the fun together!
    5. Facebook is a great fundraising tool! Follow these instructions to link your Polar Plunge page to your Facebook!

The member school that raises the most money will receive the Mid-South Polar Plunge Challenge Cup—will be presented with a trophy to be housed in the university’s athletics offices.
